Waterfall is very much a tiny baby atm, but it’s (1) The Tumblr Format, and (2) stated without any hemming or hawing that “Art of minors in sexual situations is not allowed and will result in a ban.” (Fuck you pillowfort!)

It also already has features like this

image

that tumblr SHOULD HAVE HAD FOR YEARS

So imo it’s definitely at least worth keeping an eye on.

(I’m http://lesbianchemicalplant.waterfall.social/)

To be clear, Pillowfort stated some mealy-mouthed “we’re not going to Police art of teenage minors bc it’s 2 hard uwu” bullshit, and after getting pushback on that, made a follow-up post waffling about how Pedophilia Is Bad But We Don’t Want To Be Checking Anime Wiki Pages For Characters’ Canonical Ages!!!!

Instead of just stating “we do not allow CP / sexual depictions of minors, Period” which is the ONLY acceptable position on the matter

Scam Alert - Commissioning Artists Beware

drellvhen:

Artists, there’s a scam going around on Twitter at the minute, and you never know, someone might try it over here.

image
image

This guy is messaging commissioning artists and attempting to gain access to their PayPal by pretending to need a code to pay the bill.
Obviously we all know that’s bull, but if someone isn’t paying attention, is unfamiliar with PayPal commissions as a whole, or is just desperate enough for that commission money?  They might fall for it.
OP’s tweet here.

PayPal will not require a code for someone to complete payment.

It’s just not how it works, I know it, you know it, the scammer knows it.  But he’s gambling on the potential that someone (and that someone is mostly likely to be a young, new artist without much commission experience under their belt, let’s be honest) doesn’t know it.  Let’s make sure everyone does.
So if you’d be so kind, please boost the everliving hell out of this.  Don’t let anyone fall prey to this shady, shady individual, either here or on twitter or anywhere else.

xenethes:

apparently porn bots are now hacking into in-use accounts (I’m assuming larger accounts) and posting while the blog owner is still active.

holy fuck.

why are staff so incompetent

rather than fixing their obviously very flawed code and development, they’re deciding to ban tits? fucking tits?

that being said, although it’s so unlikely this will happen to me, please know that it’s not me posting these links and photos. Please dont click on the links.

oh my god.

a quick grass tutorial

urswurs:

I’ve never really wrote a tutorial before so apologies if this is bad

1. okay first thing I do is pick three colors, a mid, dark, and light. I like to check the colors in greyscale to make sure there’s enough contrast between each one.

I then plop down a blob of whatever my middle tone color is.

image

2. next, I take my dark color and just sort of randomly place it around. I try to make sure there’s a good amount of both the mid and dark tones spread throughout. I personally like to keep it kinda messy. I also have pen pressure on for both brush size and opacity, so I can have some blending action going on.

image

3. for the next step I do the exact same thing as before, except with the light color.

image

4. aight this is where we start adding details. see how you just have a bunch of colors and edges where two colors meet? use the eyedropper and go to an area where two colors meet, eyedrop a color, and then use that color to draw in your grass blades. I do this at every point where colors meet. should note I personally like to use a square brush, but you can really just use anything.

image

5. you can technically stop at the last step if you’re going for a more simple look, but to add more details I go to the “empty” areas of solid color and just draw in random strokes using a color nearby. it’s just a way to fill up the empty space.

image

6. basically more of the same idea of eyedropping and drawing. for more variety so things look interesting, I like to add random plant shapes.

image

7. and so the grass doesn’t look too plain, I add random dots of color and pretend it’s flowers and stuff.

image

and there you have it, this is how I approach drawing grass.

PSA: If your blog is stuck in explicit mode

pootisman24:

archonix:

You can edit the settings page to change it.

This is my naughty blog right now. Notice how the icon is that snazzy default thing?

image

That’s because it’s set to explicit, a setting that was locked after the great purge:

image

BUT

If you right-click on that toggle and click “inspect element”, you can change that.

image

Notice how the input tag has a disabled attribute? Just remove that whole thing:

image

The toggle is now active

image

And toggleable

image

And now, after a quick refresh, my old (crap, but real) icon and header image are back, and the blog is no longer treated as hidden or explicit.

image

The goggle also disappears after the refresh, but it’s worth noting that you can also edit the toggle back into the settings panel and change your blog back to explicit if you so desire.

This is a perfect example of the laziness of tumblr’s devs. They haven’t removed the functionality, they’ve just kinda-sorta hidden it a bit; the end-point that the explicit toggle hits is still there.

Imagine killing your entire userbase and your ‘solution’ can be worked around with inspect element lmfao

WELCOME BACK! For those who logged off, this is what you missed.

maswartz:

1. @staff made a post pretty much saying “Your stuff isn’t getting deleted, just hidden from everyone but you” and “Yeah we know you hate the term “female presenting nipples” but we ain’t gonna stop saying it”

2. If a blog has a pixelated icon that means they got hit by the ban, you cannot view that blog outside the sidebar. You cannot even view their archive. Allegedly if you follow the advice in this post it’ll be fixed but only if it was an accidental flag (aka a real sfw blog)

3. The post Staff made including examples of what was ok to post. It got flagged.

4. Yes, the bots are still here. Yes they are still stealing posts and putting porn links on them. Yes there are still ads with stuff more sexual than they allow in posts. Yes innocent things are still getting flagged.

5. So yes, the site is still here and staff are still morons.
