The suit opens up so they can enter and exit without destroying it lol
To become that form, they then absorb or consume earth, rock or lava. Depending on how much they consume, they grow to whatever size they want.

but it is extreeeeeemely rare that they leave the suit anyway ;w;nonchalant-raptor
