i rly stopped caring abt overwatch like a year and a half ago but don’t let the hype for the new character make you forget that activision/blizzard literally just laid off hundreds of employees lol

i see some people commenting on this who clearly didn’t even click the link so let me simplify things a little bit

activision literally made a public statement that they had massive profits, a significant increase in revenue compared to last year, around 40% if i remember correctly… but somehow this still ‘failed to meet expectations’ and they fired around 800 people

But “we will not improve retail monetization as quickly as we liked,” referring to the slowing sales of microtransactions within games like Overwatch and Hearthstone.

they literally made millions of dollars compared to last year but they wanted to grab EVEN MORE money with their greedy little pizza hands that they literally fired EIGHT PERCENT OF THEIR ENTIRE WORKFORCE

MEANWHILE, their newest CFO literally got FIFTEEN MILLION DOLLARS JUST for accepting the position. he didn’t even do anything. around 800 people lost their jobs despite record-breaking profits and some high-ranker gets millions for literally just saying ‘yeah i’ll take the job’

case in point: blizzard is fucking greedy and shady and gives absolutely no fucks about any of their working class employees. they only care about making more and more money, each year more than the last, making as much money as physically fucking possible, and if you can’t do that, you’re fired
